Worker and Kolkhoz Woman
A 78 foot high stainless steel sculpture in socialist realistic style made by Vera Mukhina, a prominent Soviet sculptor, in 1937. Originally created to crown the Soviet pavilion, opposite the German, of the World’s Fair in Paris, it was then moved to Moscow, placed just outside the Exhibition of Achievements of the People’s Economy. In 1947, it was chosen to be the logo for the film studio Mosfilm.
For all you Potterheads, it is said that this sculpture inspired the Magic is Might statue put up by Gaylord Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic (Deathly Hallows part one)
